Beth Porter

Beth Porter, MS, LCPC, LMHC,  Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Master of Counseling Psychology, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, 2003.

“Psychotherapy is a highly effective way to relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression and experience healing from aftereffects of trauma and loss.  It can help you increase your understanding of yourself; change behaviors that might be interfering with your goals; improve your relationships and help you experience more meaning and joy in your life.

I am a licensed clinical therapist with more than 15 years experience working with clients with a broad range of psychiatric and psychological concerns.  I received my clinical training at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, where I trained in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and experiential therapies.  I have worked extensively in the treatment of trauma symptoms from childhood abuse, domestic violence, military service and medical health issues.  I believe many of the emotional, physical and spiritual symptoms we experience can be minimized and even resolved through clinical therapy that incorporates the whole self.  In conjunction with traditional talk therapy, I offer clients various mind-body techniques and expressive art therapies, which can be very helpful in reducing symptoms of anxiety and pain, and increase a sense of whole person wellness.

At Eastwind Healing Center, my office is comfortable, safe and convenient.  As your therapist,  I will be compassionate, gentle, truthful and non-judgmental.  I will work in close collaboration with you as we navigate the therapeutic process and I will invite your questions and feedback so that we can ensure that our work together feels productive, safe and uniquely suited to you and your goals.  I will help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, behaviors and experiences, and I will support you as you learn to use your increased awareness to make positive changes and experience lasting growth.

I work with adults of all ages.  I also see children (9+ yrs) and adolescents with issues of trauma, loss and changes in family structure.  I accept all forms of Blue Cross health insurance.  If you would like to speak with me prior to making a first-time appointment, please contact me at  I will be happy to schedule a phone call with you to address questions you may have and to help you determine if I might be a good fit for you.”
